An Insider's Indonesia

Journey from Makassar in Southern Sulawesi, to the Spice Isles of Ambon & Seram in Maluku, before diving into Raja Ampat's magical underwater world at the heart of the Coral Triangle.

Maluku (once known as the Moluccas) is sandwiched between Sulawesi and Papua. This isolated chain of islands played a vital role in the trade of nutmeg, cloves and mace between the 16th and 18th century. Echoes of colonial history permeate the region. The islands offer a wild escape with pristine reefs, palm-fringed beaches, forested peaks, ancient forts and a wealth of culture.

Seram, the largest, is an untamed beauty with a wildlife-rich mountainous interior melting down to meet idyllic white sand beaches.

Bustling Sorong in Western Papua is the gateway to Raja Ampat - a pristine waterworld where dramatic volcanic peaks rise up from the gin-clear ocean, home to an unrivalled diversity of marine life.

If you're attracted to remote corners of the world, then this is a trip to spice up your life.
