Kathmandu Guest House Kathmandu, Nepal, Nepal

The Kathmandu Guest House was one of the very first hotels in Kathmandu, located in Thamel which has gone on to become the heart of the traveler area. Many famous climbers and mountaineers have stayed here as well as US Presidents and the Beatles.

The hotel is arranged around a peaceful gardens and, true to its backpacker/traveller roots, still has inexpensive rooms available as well as its newer more luxurious ones. There is a good restaurant and a bar/cafe which serves in the garden during the day, with the option of a fire in the evening. Its a small oasis from the chaos of the city.

The location is excellent. Walking out of the gate you area straight into the bustle of Thamel, with restaurants, bars and shops everywhere. They have just banned traffic from the streets in the heart of Thamel making it a much more pleasant experience to explore these amenities.
