This is another wonderfully historic small boutique hotel. Unlike many luxury boutique hotels in Sri Lanka, The Elephant Stables welcomes families. There are no less than 3 suites that have ample space with additional beds to sleep kids of all ages in comfort.
Although close to Kandy the hotel is in a quiet location on a private road a mere 10 minutes from the historic city centre. It sits atop a hill with magnificent views of the mist covered Knuckles Mountains in the far distance. Its unusual name comes from colonial times when the house belonged to Sir Cudah Ratwatte who housed his elephants in the gardens of his old plantation – hence the name!
The hotel features a collection of just 7 rooms and suites that uniquely combine colonial flavour and ambience with chic designer elements. Their bedrooms feature some of the best interior design in Sri Lanka and are all very sumputous with large beds and luxurious bathrooms. Some have the fabulous views and others look out over the garden. There is a small restaurant, bar, reading room, sitting room and swimming pool at the hotel.
